    The CONNECTED User Experience

Join instructor Tom Stogdill as he shows you how to get the most out of working in the MicroStation CONNECT Edition interface. With a new ribbon-style user experience and features including connected projects, updates to tools and settings, and a restructured organization, MicroStation CONNECT Edition opens new possibilities for leveraging “CONNECTED users and projects” with Bentley Cloud Services.

    You’ll learn how:

    • To store project-centric information using cloud-based technology and connect project participants —across disciplines—to the standards and the projects they work on

    • The new ribbon-style interface organizes tool collections into logical ribbon workflows, with ribbon tabs and ribbon groups delivering these tools to the user

    • The integrated ribbon search makes it easy to locate what you are looking for

    • MicroStation’s settings have been consolidated within the Backstage

Making Functional Components Part of your Workflow
Functional Components are an extension of MicroStation CONNECT Edition’s 3D capabilities that bring a new way to control geometry through dimension-driven design tools for 2D and 3D constraints and Dimensional constraints. See how these new tools embed design knowledge when creating parametric cells and flexible solid and surface models – all while also being integrated with the ProjectWise Catalog Service.

In this sneak peek course, MicroStation instructor Samir Haque explores the ways you can use these tools in your workflow.

Align Existing Conditions with Design Modeling using Reality Modeling
Reality modeling is the alignment of existing conditions, represented as reality mesh models combined with your design and construction modeling, fully integrated into the MicroStation CONNECT Edition.

Have you ever dealt with inaccurate existing conditions data? Your existing raster and point clouds are snapshots in time and creating 3D models from them can require some guesswork.

While a point cloud has discrete points, reality models contain mesh and imagery. See how we work with these reality models directly or as reference files in the MicroStation CONNECT Edition. These meshes are only limited by the quality and quantity of the original imagery.

Rapid advances in scanning and photography and broader use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are quickly making this technology more feasible and affordable in sustaining infrastructure. Join Shawn McGaffick for a sneak peek of the course “Reality Modeling – Integrating Acute3D models into your workflow”.

Generating Deliverables with MicroStation’s Documentation Center
Join John Melbert to learn about MicroStation CONNECT Edition’s Documentation Center, the Bentley Common Deliverables Environment featuring new integrity- and quality-enhancing capabilities for aggregating information and creating multi-discipline deliverables.

In this session, John will cover:

    • Automated Sheet Layout –create multiple sheets in a single operation, as an automated layout based on scale, location, and along path.

    • Property Driven Annotation –create annotation that is generated and updated based on selected object properties.

    • Property Driven Display–manage print output as project standards in MicroStation by setting display and print symbology based on object properties.

    • Property Driven Reports –create tables, schedules, and Bill of Material’s (BOM’s) based on project properties.

    • Sheet Indexing –speed the process of creating and distributing well-organized deliverables and get the capability to control sheet numbering and ordering, creating Index Sheets, and publishing print sets.
