BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN BRIDGES


Ministerio Obras Publicas de Chile - Chacao Bridge
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, designing, building, modeling, analyzing, and maintaining bridges.

CRITERIA

  1. For consideration in this category, a Bentley bridge design and analysis application (OpenBridge Modeler, RM Bridge, or LEAP Bridge) must be used alone or in combination with other software.
  2. Submitted projects must demonstrate a technical and/or innovative application of Bentley products and technology.
  3. Projects will also be judged on the application of engineering principles, plus the positive impact it will have on the local social, economic, or environmental situation.
  4. Submissions should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a clear return on investment, and be supported by images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams.

BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN BUILDING AND CAMPUSES

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, designing, building, operating, and maintaining a building or campus and its supporting infrastructure, including commercial buildings, educational and government campuses, airports, and other public or private facilities.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley building products (including AECOsim Building Designer, Speedikon or Hevacomp, GenerativeComponents, STAAD, RAM) must have been used (alone or in combination with other software) demonstrating excellence in design modeling, computational design, engineering analysis, structural analysis, or design review visualization.
  2. The project should demonstrate the use of technical innovation resulting in a high-quality building or buildings. Quality can refer to the building or project’s functional performance to meet the client’s business need, aesthetics, reduction in carbon footprint, energy savings, quality of space (e.g. acoustics, lighting), compliance with regulations or accreditations, construction delivery process, operational efficiencies, multi-platform collaboration, improved structural project workflows, structure’s functional performance, material savings, and design or engineering innovation.
  3. The project must demonstrate a clear return on investment (to the owner, project, or submitter) in terms of either cost savings, risk avoidance, increased value in the resulting project, or increased business performance.
  4. Submissions must clearly present the project and benefits achieved by using project images, project models, animations, contract deliverables, simulations, charts, diagrams, text, and application screenshots.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN CONSTRUCTION


Insight-WFP - Houston Refinery
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence during the construction phase of a project, demonstrating a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance, describing how risks were mitigated to avoid overruns, and how the use of technology has advanced work processes especially with the construction workforce to the benefit of all stakeholders.

CRITERIA

  1. Any ProjectWise product (including Bentley Navigator) or ConstructSim used (alone or in combination with other software) by construction personnel.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in the planning, engineering (especially structural integrity analysis), and/or construction of any factory or manufacturing facility, including onshore and offshore oil and gas production facilities, petrochemical and chemical plants, continuous metals processing, food and pharmaceutical production, automotive, CPG, semi-conductors, hi-tech, batch food and pharmaceutical plants, and equipment manufacture, or demonstrate the industrial fabrication of large-scale building or other infrastructure components.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley technology (such as OpenPlant, AutoPLANT, STAAD, AutoPIPE, SACS, OpenRoads, AECOsim Building Designer, Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, and Promis.e) must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, construct, and/or operate these facilities. Typically, these projects are multi-discipline.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, excellence in project management, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
  3. The submission must also discuss the business drivers behind the project – time to market, increased efficiency, improved safety – and any environmental considerations of the facility and its production.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN MINING AND OFFSHORE ENGINEERING


Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Ltd
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, design, structural analysis, especially structural integrity analysis, engineering, construction, operations, and decommissioning of mines, mining facilities, marine and offshore and onshore infrastructure, and structures, including oil and gas production facilities (topsides and platforms).

CRITERIA

Mining:
  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to design, plan, survey, map, manage, or develop mines or plan, design, construct, and/or operate materials handling or processing facilities.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
  3. The submission must also discuss safety, environmental impact, and business drivers.

Offshore:
  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, build, operate, model, or analyze these facilities.
  2. This technology includes products such as RAM, STAAD, AutoPIPE, SACS, MAXSURF, MOSES, and ProjectWise, but is not exclusive to these products.
  3. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, engineering and project management excellence, innovation in offshore structural engineering, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
  4. The submission must cover the particular offshore conditions found at sea, including various sea states, salt water and biological (marine growth) effects, wave, and vessel impact analysis.
  5. The submission must also discuss safety, environmental impact, and business drivers.
  6. Submissions must clearly present the project and benefits achieved by using project images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams, project models, videos, and text.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN MUNICIPAL OPERATIONS

DESCRIPTION
Projects that have demonstrated excellence in advancing and sustaining local and regional government infrastructure and that leverage project delivery, geospatial, 3D city modeling, mapping, engineering, or asset management solutions.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley technology has been used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, model, build, survey, map, manage, or operate public infrastructure.
  2. This submission should include discipline-specific engineering where applicable, as well as adoption of best practices in critical infrastructure, cadastral mapping, 3D city GIS, BIM process adoption, project delivery and other geospatial workflows.
  3. The project will need to demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, tangible benefits to public infrastructure and the environment, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN POWER GENERATION

DESCRIPTION
Projects that have demonstrated excellence in planning, designing, modeling, analyzing (especially structural integrity analysis), and/or construction of any power generation plants including fossil fuel, renewable energy, cogeneration and nuclear power plants.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley technology (such as OpenPlant, AutoPLANT, STAAD, AutoPIPE, SACS, OpenRoads, AECOsim Building Designer, Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, and Promis.e) must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, build, operate, model, or analyze these facilities. Typically, these projects are multi-discipline.

BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN PROJECT DELIVERY

DESCRIPTION
Organizations that demonstrate excellence in project delivery as the result of improved project collaboration, accelerated information sharing, enhanced information mobility and content management enabling increased transparency spanning the planning, design, and construction of a single project or across their project portfolio.

CRITERIA

  1. Standardized use of ProjectWise technology (ProjectWise Design Integration, ProjectWise Connections Services, ProjectWise Deliverables Management, ProjectWise Construction Work Package Server and/or ProjectWise Engineering Content Management) to manage, control, and integrate information to plan, design, build, and deliver projects. In addition, the use of i-models, and Bentley Apps such as Field Supervisor, ProjectWise Worksite, Navigator Mobile, Bentley Map Mobile, ProjectWise Explorer Mobile, and InspectTech Collector Mobile.
  2. The project or project portfolio must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation and interoperability, superior project information management, and improved team collaboration with a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
  3. Submissions must present the ROI and how your organization improved productivity, reduced risk, managed change, and resolved issues. This should be conveyed using project images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams, and text.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN RAIL AND TRANSIT

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, engineering, design, analysis or project delivery of rail or transit systems.

CRITERIA

  1. For consideration in this category an application within Bentley’s rail and transit solution must have been used alone or in combination with other software. Suggested applications include but are not limited to; Power Rail Track, Power Rail Overhead Line, AECOsim Building Designer, OpenRoads, RM Bridge, and LEAP Bridge.
  2. Submitted projects must demonstrate a technical and/or innovative application of Bentley products and technology.
  3. Projects will also be judged on the application of engineering principles, plus the positive impact it will have on the local social, economic, or environmental situation.
  4. The submission should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a return on investment numbers, and be supported by images, screenshots, animations, charts, or diagrams.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN REALITY MODELING


City of Helsinki
DESCRIPTION
Reality modeling is the process of capturing and visualizing the real-world context of an asset to better understand existing conditions and more clearly communicate designs within their environmental context. Projects must demonstrate excellence in reality capture and/or visualization that solved a specific design, construction or operations challenge. Projects must demonstrate how reality modeling enabled better decision making, and/or streamlined the process of collaboration or approvals through improved communication.

CRITERIA

  1. ContextCapture, Bentley LumenRT, Descartes, or Pointools must have been used.
  2. Submissions should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance, an explanation of technical innovation, and be supported by a variety of high-quality images, screenshots, animations, or sample datasets.

Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, engineering, design, analysis or project delivery of roads or highways.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley technology shall have been used (alone or in combination with other software) to design, maintain, operate or otherwise enhance transportation infrastructure.
  2. For consideration in this category a Bentley civil product such as InRoads, GEOPAK, MXRoad, OpenRoads, ConceptStation, or other OpenRoads application must have been used alone or in combination with other software.
  3. The project will demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, positive social, economic or environmental impact on the region, good project management, and a clear return on investment.





BIM ADVANCEMENTS IN ROAD AND RAIL ASSET PERFORMANCE

DESCRIPTION
Enterprise deployments that demonstrate excellence in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and management of rail, transit, roads, or highways – providing improved reliability, integrity, performance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness, along with enhanced safety and reduced risk.

CRITERIA

  1. For consideration in this category, one or more of Bentley’s AssetWise software and/or services must have been used on either a rail and transit or road and highway network. Suggestions include:
    • AssetWise Asset Lifecycle Information Management (including eB, Exor)
    • AssetWise Asset Reliability (including InspectTech, Ivara)
    • AssetWise Operational Analytics (including Optram, Amulet)

DESCRIPTION
Enterprise deployments that demonstrate excellence in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and management of utility plants and networks, power generation facilities, oil and gas production facilities or any other industrial site – providing improved reliability, integrity, performance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness, along with enhanced safety and reduced risk.

CRITERIA

  1. The use of one or more of Bentley’s AssetWise software and/or services offerings in a utility, power generation station, oil and gas production facilities, or any other industrial site:

Utilities and communications network projects that have demonstrated excellence in the planning, design, construction, and operations and maintenance of electric, gas or communications network infrastructure for distribution or transmission.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley technology must have been used (alone or in combination with other software and services) to plan, design, build, or operate potable water distribution, wastewater conveyance, or electric, gas, or communications networks.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.

CRITERIA

  1. Bentley technology should have been used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, build, operate, model, or analyze potable water distribution, wastewater conveyance, or stormwater drainage infrastructure using hydraulics and hydrology software.
  2. The project will need to demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
