The nominations in each category are judged by an independent panel of jurors using criteria specific to each category – see below to decide which category best describes your project. ASSET PERFORMANCE


SA Water
DESCRIPTION
Enterprise deployments that demonstrate excellence in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and management of infrastructure assets – providing improved reliability, integrity, performance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness, along with enhanced safety and reduced risk.

CRITERIA

  1. The use of one or more of Bentley’s AssetWise software and/or services offerings in any industry:
    • AssetWise (formerly eB)
    • AssetWise APM (formerly Ivara)
    • Amulet
    • InspectTech
    • Exor

    • SUPERLOAD
  2. Submissions will be judged on a combination of criteria including: innovative use of technology (Bentley and other), interoperability with enterprise systems, process improvements , improved efficiencies/best practices, project efficiency / project management, tangible and quantifiable results (the mitigation and management of operational and safety risks, reduced costs, operational/maintenance improvements, demonstrable return on assets (ROA)/return on investment (ROI), and the impact of the changes, sustainability and the positive impact on the local social, economic, or environmental situation.

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, designing, building, modeling, analyzing, and maintaining bridges.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. For consideration in this category a Bentley Bridge design and analysis application (RM Bridge, LEAP Bridge) must be used alone or in combination with other software.
  2. Submitted projects must demonstrate a technical and/or innovative application of Bentley products and technology.
  3. Projects will also be judged on the application of engineering principles, plus the positive impact it will have on the local social, economic, or environmental situation.
  4. Submissions should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a clear return on investment, and be supported by images, screenshots, animations, charts, or diagrams.

BUILDING


Sichuan Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, designing, building, operating, and maintaining one or more building.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology must have been used (alone or in combination with other software) demonstrating excellence in design modeling, computational design, engineering analysis or design review visualization.
  2. The project should demonstrate the use of technical innovation resulting in a high-quality building(s). Quality can refer to the building or project’s functional performance to meet the client’s business need, aesthetics, reduction in carbon footprint, energy savings, quality of space (e.g. acoustics, lighting), compliance with regulations or accreditations, construction.
  3. The project must demonstrate a clear return on investment (to the owner, project, or submitter) in terms of either cost savings, risk avoidance, increased value in the resulting project, or increased business performance.
  4. Submissions must clearly present the project and benefits achieved by using project images, animations, simulations, charts, diagrams, text and application screenshots.





CONSTRUCTION

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence during the construction phase of a project, with a clear return on investment (usually in shortened project schedules), while describing how risks were mitigated to avoid overruns. Projects should also show how the construction workforce used the technology to advance work processes to the benefit of all stakeholders.

CRITERIA

  1. Any ProjectWise product (including Bentley Navigator) or ConstructSim used (alone or in combination with other software) by construction personnel.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment.
    EXAMPLE
    Technology used to:
    • Identify and resolve clashes and multi-discipline coordination prior to construction
    • Provide information to other stakeholders (e.g. the public and senior executives)
    • Improve communication across organizations and disciplines
    • Standardize data and project standards among multiple project partners
    • Facilitate a more rapid deployment of a project team
    • Manage the delivery of design and construction information from multiple contractors
    • Accelerate information sharing across the construction project team
    • Optimize the ideal construction path prior to actual construction (e.g. crane and scaffolding positioning planning)
    • Support real-time, WorkFace Planning
    • Support real-time, earth-moving planning, tracking, and management
    • Enable construction personnel from different organizations to share design data on a project
    • Facilitate the delivery to site process

Singapore Land Authority
DESCRIPTION
For projects that have demonstrated excellence in local, state, provincial, federal, and national government projects. Such projects may leverage project delivery, geospatial, 3D City, or civil engineering technology for sustaining and managing public infrastructure.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology has been used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, model, build, survey, map, manage, or operate public infrastructure.
  2. This submission should include discipline specific engineering when applicable, as well as adoption of best practices in critical infrastructure, cadastral mapping, 3D City GIS, BIM process adoption, project delivery, and other geospatial workflows.
  3. The project will need to demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, tangible benefits to public infrastructure and the environment, and a clear return on investment.





LAND DEVELOPMENT


Municipal Urban Laboratory of Bydgoszcz
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, engineering, analysis, design, and management of site projects for buildings, plants, airports, environmental projects, or commercial or governmental campuses.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. A Bentley civil application such as InRoads, GEOPAK, MXROAD, gINT, or SITEOPS must be used alone or in combination with other software to design or enhance site or campus infrastructure.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation through engineering and software, a positive social or environmental impact, good project management, and a clear return on investment.





MANUFACTURING

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in the planning, engineering, and construction into operations of any manufacturing facility (such as oil and gas facilities either onshore or offshore, upstream or downstream; chemical, pharmaceuticals, food/beverage plants; factories in the discrete manufacturing sector, including automotive, CPG, semi-conductors, hi-tech etc.; pulp and paper mills).

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, construct, and/or operate these facilities. Typically these projects are multi-disciplinary.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, excellence in project management, and a very clear return on investment.
  3. The submission must also discuss the business value of the project itself – impact on safety, environmental, and/or economy.





MINING

DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, engineering, construction, operations, and analysis of mining operations, or metals processing facilities.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to design, plan, survey, map, manage, or develop mines or plan, design, construct, and/or operate materials handling or processing facilities.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment.
  3. The submission must also discuss safety, environmental impact, and business drivers.





OFFSHORE


National Oilwell Varco
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, design, analysis, engineering, construction, operations, and/or decommissioning in the marine environment.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, build, operate, model, or analyze these facilities.
  2. This technology includes products such as SACS, MAXSURF, MOSES, and ProjectWise, but is not exclusive to these products.
  3. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, engineering and project management excellence, and a clear return on investment.
  4. The submission must cover the particular offshore conditions found at sea - various sea states, salt water and biological (marine growth) effects, wave, and vessel impact analysis.
  5. The submission must also discuss safety, environmental impact, and business drivers.
  6. Submissions must clearly present the project and benefits achieved by using project images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams, and text.





POWER GENERATION


Southern Company
DESCRIPTION
Projects that have demonstrated excellence in planning, designing, building, operating, modeling, and analyzing power generation plants including traditional fossil fuel plants, combined cycle plants, nuclear power facilities, and renewable power generation facilities such as hydroelectric, solar, or wind powered.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, build, operate, model, or analyze these facilities.
  2. The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment.
  3. The submission must also discuss safety, environmental impact, and business drivers for the choice of facility.





PROJECT DELIVERY


Cadventure
DESCRIPTION
Organizations that demonstrate excellence in project delivery as the result of improved project collaboration, accelerated  information sharing, enhanced information mobility, and content management enabling increased transparency  spanning the planning, design, and construction of a single project or across their project portfolio.

CRITERIA

  1. Standardized use of ProjectWise technology (ProjectWise Design Integration, ProjectWise Connections Services, ProjectWise Deliverables Management, ConstructSim Work Package Server and/or ProjectWise Engineering Content Management) to manage, control, and integrate information to plan, design, build, and deliver projects. In addition, the use of i-models, and Bentley Apps such as Field Supervisor, ProjectWise Worksite, Navigator Mobile, Bentley Map Mobile, ProjectWise Explorer Mobile, and InspectTech Collector Mobile.
  2. The project or project portfolio must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation and interoperability, superior project information management, and improved team collaboration with a clear return on investment.
  3. Submissions must present the ROI and how your organization improved productivity, reduced risk, managed change, and resolved issues. This should be conveyed using project images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams, and text.





RAIL AND TRANSIT


Felgen & Associes
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in rail and transit design or operations and maintenance.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. For consideration in this category an application within Bentley’s Rail and Transit solution must have been used alone or in combination with other software. Suggested applications include Bentley Rail Track, Power Rail Track, Power Rail Overhead Line, AECOsim, RM Bridge, LEAP Bridge.
  2. Submitted projects must demonstrate a technical and/or innovative application of Bentley products and technology.
  3. Projects will also be judged on the application of engineering principles, plus the positive impact it will have on the local social, economic, or environmental situation.
  4. Submission should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a clear return on investment, and be supported by images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams.

REALITY MODELING

DESCRIPTION
Reality modeling is the process of capturing and visualizing the real-world context of an asset using digital imagery to better understand existing conditions and more clearly communicate designs within their environmental context. Projects must demonstrate excellence in reality capture and/or visualization that solved a specific design, construction or operations challenge. Projects should show how reality modeling streamlined capture-to-model workflows and increased performance, and/or enabled better decision making, and/or improved the process of collaboration, approval, and communication.

CRITERIA

  1. ContextCapture, LumenRT, Descartes, or Pointools must have been used.
  2. Submissions should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a clear return on investment, explanation of technical innovation, and be supported by a variety of high quality images, screenshots, animations, or sample datasets.

    EXAMPLES
    Technology used to:
    • Produce detailed models of infrastructure assets and/or their surrounding environment using any one or more of the following data types:
      • Scalable terrain models
      • Point clouds
      • Reality meshes
      • 3D images
    • Integration of reality modeling with design or construction modeling for the purpose of:
      • Speeding conceptual design
      • Supporting construction modeling tasks
      • Documentation of as-built conditions
      • Improving communication of proposed plans with stakeholders

Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, engineering analysis and design or operations of roads or highways for transportation.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology shall have been used (alone or in combination with other software) to design, maintain, operate or otherwise enhance transportation infrastructure.
  2. For consideration in this category a Bentley civil product such as InRoads, GEOPAK, MXROAD or other OpenRoads technology or a Bentley operations and maintenance solution such as Exor, InspectTech, or SUPERLOAD must have been used alone or in combination with other software.
  3. The project will demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, positive social, economic or environmental impact on the region, good project management, and a clear return on investment.





STRUCTURES


PES Structural Engineers, Inc.
DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in planning, modeling, designing, analyzing, documenting, detailing, and/or delivering one or more structures.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to model, design, analyze, document, or detail a structure(s) of any complexity and any material. This technology includes products such as STAAD, RAM, and ProStructures, but is not exclusive to these products.
  2. The project must demonstrate the use of technical innovation to deliver high-quality structure(s) or improved structural project workflows. Quality can be in terms of the structure’s functional performance, delivery process, material savings, design or engineering innovation, quality of service, collaboration, or otherwise.
  3. The project must demonstrate a clear return on investment in terms of either cost savings or risk avoidance (to owner, project, or submitter) or increased value in the resulting project.
  4. Submissions must clearly present the project and benefits achieved by using project images, screenshots, animations, charts or diagrams, and text.





UTILITIES AND COMMUNICATIONS

Utilities and communications network projects that have demonstrated excellence in the planning, design, construction, and operation of water, wastewater, district energy, gas, electric, or communications network infrastructure for distribution or transmission.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  • Bentley technology must have been used (alone or in combination with other software and services) to plan, design, build, or operate potable water distribution, wastewater conveyance, or electric, gas, or communications networks.
  • The project must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment. (Please note there is a separate category for Innovation in Water Network Analysis.)





WATER NETWORK ANALYSIS

DESCRIPTION
Projects that have demonstrated excellence in planning, designing, building, operating, modeling, and analyzing water, wastewater, or stormwater networks using hydraulics and hydrology software.

CRITERIA / EXAMPLES

  1. Bentley technology should have been used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, build, operate, model or analyze potable water distribution, wastewater conveyance, or stormwater drainage infrastructure using hydraulics and hydrology software.
  2. The project will need to demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment.
